Food Banks


Well with the Price of Food Always Going UP. And Come September 1st My Rent is Going Up, but Not my Disability Check. And supposedly, I make too Much For Food Stamps. I have to Avail myself of the Food Bank. It took a few Days to get the Information, but I left Messages and there were call backs.(In GOD’s Time)

Any ‘Ole Way’ I got hooked up with “STOP HUNGER,INC.” Here in Miami, Fl.

In the Video I keep saying Feed America but it is NOT them that Helped Me. It is “STOP HUNGER” that has Given me the Food Stuff.

These People were Very Gracious and Helpful….Had me fill Out some Paper Work and Vet me. Wile I was in the Office they had Someone round-up some Left overs from Today’s Passing out of Food Stuff. They Pass out food every Thursday. I am assigned to the Last Thursday of the Month. So this is What I Received Today….I am Very Great full for all the Assistance…Thank You.

I do need some Assistance in the up-coming Months….I have talked to some of the People at Social Security, they do not think that COLA will Change in January, It will stay the Same.

This Weekend we may be visited by a Hurricane…So it’s good to have some Food in the Man Cave….Just in Case…

I forgot to Post this about a Week Ago…I make it with English Muffins that I Toast on one side under the Broiler. Then Add the Tuna Salad and Cheese.

Shove Tuesday


The day before Ash Wednesday, the Beginning of Christian Lenten Holidays. It is the Last Day of Mardi Gras  and some people call it FAT Tuesday…Eat all the Good Stuff before you give it up for Lent. Sooo with out further ado…

I just did a Few Pancakes for my Dinner….The Left over Batter with a little extra Water…Makes some Creps Very thin pancakes, can be used for Wraps…

I find that with a good amount of them I can make up some chicken Salad Wraps later in the Week.

Fish n Shrimp Chowder


If I can’t get Fresh Shrimp, I use Large De-Veined White, Headless Shrimp about 24 of them and 2 pieces of Filleted Flounder.

Here I have used Frozen Shrimp…

When Cleaning Make sure to get all of the Exoskeleton…

Frozen Flounder may be Used…

I Chop it altogether in the FP….

I Start 1 n 1/2 cups Chicken broth…Potatoes(can) and Corn(can) in a Pot with a 1/4 Tsp. Sweet Papriki…a Dash Ground Black Pepper…

Start it to Simmer….for about 15 minuets.

I Start in a Med. Sauce Pan melting 2 Tbl. spoons Butter and saute 1 sm. Onion chopped, I use Dry Onion 2 Tbl. Spoons…till tender…

Add 2 Tbl. spoons Flour folding till blended. Gradually Add 2 cups Milk…stirring wile it Thickens.

When all is combined and Smooth, I Add this to the Fish n Shrimp…

Heat a little longer…then Serve…

Makes 4 Normal Servings or 2 for Me….

My Hungarian Cabbage n Noodles


My Hungarian Cabbage n Noodles, This is the way I learned…Except for the Home made Noodles…this is pretty much the way my Grandmother made it…

Basic ingredients…this is a VERY RICH High  Calorie Recipe…almost everything in Hungarian Cooking is. Taste is what makes this Great…you get a Sweet/semi-Bitter Buttery Cabbage taste, very heave meal. It can stand by it-self or with a Pork Dish…with Apples sauce. Oh Yes it does take time to make…But I like to draw it out…

The cabbage needs to be Chopped or Shredded as small as possible…and Salted the Reason for this is to make the cabbage Bleed out the Water it retains…Cover over with a towel or cloth and let it sit for an Hour or more. Oh and also there are No Mesurments…you add a little of this and a pinch of that…Work it by Taste.

I use a Heavy course hand towel to squeeze out the Water from the Cabbage about two handfuls at a time.

Out of that Little Cabbage, I was able to squeeze out about 1 and 2/3 cups of Water. Break up the little cabbage balls as much as you can.

ADD Butter to the cabbage under low heat covered…stir occasionaly till translucent. It will be Very Bitter do to the Salt.

Adding Sugar to Taste while Browning and Stiring…Once you have it the way you want it (remember to taste) not just yours. Set aside Start water for Noodles.

After the noodles are done to your liking, ADD a stick of Butter too your Hot Noodles to loosen them up…

Add your Cabbage and More Butter if you want…I like More…

The problem with this is you are always sampling for Taste…So by the time it’s done your Full…(NOT)…but close…if you try it I hope you Enjoy…I can only Make and Eat it every so often, as I have said it is Rich and full of  Calories….
